Elastic Laces – Not just for triathletes!

If anyone is familiar with triathlon, they’ll be aware of elastic laces for their running shoes. When you transition from the bike ride to the run, you want to do it as quickly as possible. One way to speed up this transition, is to eliminate the need to tie your shoelaces.
Replace your standard laces to elastic ones before the race and when the time comes, slip your running shoes on and off you go.

In reality though, not everyone has the desire to be a triathlete (I mean, those triathletes are crazy people) – so why bother using something like elastic laces?

Podiatrists are well known for their love of a good quality pair of closed in shoes. Often one of the biggest reasons our patients avoid wearing closed in shoes, is that for a myriad of different reasons, they struggle to tie their laces.

This is where elastic laces shift from speedy bike-run transitions to champions of adaptability and empowerment. By changing your laces to elastic ones (and there are lots of different colours and styles) you instantly convert your shoe to a slip on one. An added bonus is that you eliminate the chance of tripping over your laces if they happen to come un-done.

So if you’ve been struggling with your laces but still want to wear your favourite pair of closed in shoes, elastic laces might be worth a try!
